Stephanie Chase - Celebrating a Distinguished Career

Violinists come and go and most only see a few years, at best, of a sustainable career. Rare are the violinists who still command the kind of attention and demand that Stephanie Chase has been able to generate. Ms. Chase has the distinction of being a recipient of the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant and was a top-prize winner at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She has parlayed both of these exceptional triumphs into an international career that has seen her perform in 25 countries with leading major symphony orchestras under the direction of some of the most- distinguished music directors in the business. Among her appearances with major symphony orchestras, Ms. Chase has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, London Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded the Beethoven Violin Concerto with The Handover Band under the direction of Roy Goodman in a CD for Cala Records. The recording is of note since it is the premiere recording of the famous concerto on period instruments. Additionally Ms. Chase has recorded a number of CDs for Violin and Orchestra as well as chamber and solo works. Her catalog of CDs are available from Cala Records and Amazon.

Adding to her cache of accomplishments is her talents as an arranger. Cleverly playing on the music letters of her name, she has arranged the Paganini 24 Caprices into a new version that has proven to be a hit with audiences. Along with arrangements, she has undertaken the cause to champion new and undiscovered works for the violin. Among her finds are less-heard works by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, Erich Korngold, Karl Szymanowski, William Walton, Julius Conus, Henri Vieuxtemps, Dmitri Shostakovich, Leonard Bernstein, and Kreisler’s one-movement version of Paganini’s Violin Concerto.

Price Rubin will see her off next season for a performance of the Bernstein Serenade with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. The performance is scheduled for February 25 2012.

For additional scheduling information on Stephanie Chase including engagement opportunities, please visit her summary page at Price Rubin & Partners.

Year in Review - Price Rubin Hits All the Right Notes

We have a saying here at Price Rubin: "You get what you give". It is one of those original motivational quips that helps our marketing staff to focus on what we do and why we do it.

2010 was a banner year for us - the best year we ever had. And right in the midde of the worst recession in recent memory. The company introduced a novel marketing program in December of 2009 that both Jack Price and Marc Parella were sure would appeal to both established and developmental concert artists. The Premium Management program has revolutionized concert artist marketing by providing direct and dedicated individual telemarketing services along with comprehensive marketing reports.

The management industry is changing and more importantly the concert music industry is changing, and those who adapt to change, survive. Those who relish in change, thrive.

With the addition of a superbly gifted roster, the company contracted last year 54 events from 49 presenters in 11 countries with organizations ranging from AA orchestras to major university series. The marketing staff made 35,000 calls last year to more than 3000 presenters of classical and jazz musicians.

Below are the performing arts organizations we have engagements for upcoming or past performances that were contracted last year. This list does not include events we have contracted for our Anchor Management clients or clients who just have mediation/contracting services through Price Rubin.

Anne Ku, PRP's New Development Director

Price Rubin & Partners is pleased to announce the hiring of Anne Ku as our company's new development director. Anne will be utilizing social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, among others, to develop key partnerships with presenters, music schools, venues, and the general artistic community.

Anne has developed a strong following through her network of home concerts as she and her husband Robert Bekkers formed the Bekkers Piano-Guitar Duo. The Duo has toured extensively giving home concerts and lectures throughout the world.

Anne is also a prolific blogger which has allow her to develop a substantial following for her insightful knowledge in the field of artist marketing and branding. She frequently holds events throughout the world designed for musicians to learn more about innovative marketing techniques, audience development, and of course how to present a house concert. An example of Anne's innovative approach to bring musicians and audience together is the first-ever Keyboard Sight-Reading Competition to be held in San Francisco later this year. Anne states that, "a sight-reading competition requires that each participant is looking at the music for the first time; the listener is listening to the music for the first time. In order to guarantee that, we have asked composers to supply never-before performed scores."

Anne earned her PhD in Decision Sciences from the London Business School in 1995 and Bachelor of Music with Honors in Composition and a Piano Teaching Diploma from Utrecht Conservatory in 2008. She has worked in the corporate world for a Fortune 500 publisher as an editor.

Anne's blog for Price Rubin can be found here: http://pricerubin.wordpress.com/
